Hippie Fair
The Arts, Crafts and Variety Producers Fair of Belo Horizonte, officially known as the Hippie Fair, is an important chapter in the history of the capital of Minas Gerais. A destination on Sunday mornings for visitors from various states and countries, the fair is the main landmark and meeting point for the local population.
A pioneer in Brazil, the Hippie Fair was created by a group of artists and artisans in 1969 in Praça da Liberdade (Liberty Square). Officially recognized by the City Hall in 1972, the fair underwent a vigorous process of growth and national and international recognition due to the quality of the works sold there.
The Hippie Fair is undoubtedly the biggest tourist attraction and one of the largest centers of commercial and human development in the capital of Minas Gerais. It is also the most representative place for the promotion and sale of Minas Gerais' crafts and variety goods market. It's impossible to see everything in just one day; it's impossible to visit once and not want to return.
