Lavras Novas

An interesting history and a different view at every turn. That's Lavras Novas, a village at 1510 m altitude, which attracts people from all over the country for the beauty of its landscape and the tranquility of its alleys and streets. For gold mining, slaves settled in the region, which welcomes their descendants to this day. It is said that the village is a remnant of a quilombo (a settlement of escaped slaves).

Lavras Novas is the perfect option for those who enjoy ecotourism. Anyone passing through the village shouldn't miss the waterfalls and hiking the region's trails. One day you can enjoy a bean soup in front of a wood-burning stove to escape the fog, and the next, take a refreshing dip in one of the region's waterfalls after hiking under the hot sun and clear blue sky, without a single cloud.

The district is located 13 km from the city of Ouro Preto, situated on a plateau between mountains formed of quartzite. It's worth a visit!
