Abílio Barreto Museum
Inaugurated in 1943, the Abílio Barreto Historical Museum (MHAB), as a city museum, is dedicated to the history, research, production, and dissemination of knowledge about Belo Horizonte. It also contributes to strengthening ties of identity and belonging and establishing a permanent dialogue for the collective construction of local memories. Located in the Cidade Jardim neighborhood, its architectural complex comprises the centuries-old mansion, headquarters of the former Leitão Farm, built in 1883, the main building, inaugurated in December 1998, the open-air stage, and the gardens designed as a place for education and leisure. In the outdoor area, large-scale collections are on permanent display, such as the electric tram, the steam locomotive, the carriage, the oxcart, among others.
